WELCOME TO EUSIPCO 2009Eusipco 2009 ran successfully from 24th -28th August 2009 in Glasgow. The conference was attended by more than 700 delegates sponsors, exhibitors and day delegates. 550 papers, 7 plenary lectures, 8 tutorials, and 2 industrial presentations were given over the course of the event. Overall Eusipco2009 was a great success for Eurasip and all who attended. The web pages for Eusipco2009 will remain on-line for the next 6 months. The 2009 European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO-2009) is the 17th in a series of conferences organised by the European Association for Signal, Speech, and Image Processing (EURASIP, www.eurasip.org). EUSIPCO-2009 is organised by the University of Strathclyde and the conference event and exhibition will be held in the stunning Royal Concert Hall from Tuesday 25th to Friday 28th August 09 in the heart of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The event also features a grand reception at the Glasgow City Chambers (town hall; Tues 25th Aug), and a banquet at the UK's most popular museum, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery (Thurs 27th Aug) which will be reserved exclusively for Eusipco from 6:30pm. On the Monday 24th August 2009, before the main conference there will be tutorials (free to conference delegates) which will be in the Royal College Building, 204 George St, Univ of Strathclyde, Glasgow G1 1XW. EUSIPCO-2009 will focus on key aspects of signal processing theory, architectures, and applications. More than 800 papers were submitted in February 2009, and in May 2009 after extensive reviewing, 550 papers were accepted for publication and presentation at EUSIPCO 2009. The conference will further include a series of keynote and plenary talks by industry and academic experts, and six tutorials sessions (on Monday 24th), and 3 industrial demonstration sessions.
